Custom Water Fountains Enhance Gardens

My friend Lydia is from Switzerland.  She has the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen!  Each garden has a story of its own.  Probably my most favorite garden is a bird theme.  Several of the plants or flowers are actually popping out of old birdhouses with the tops removed.  Scattered here and there are glass eggs.  On the larger flowers toward the back of the garden, birds are attached to the stems.  It is absolutely breathtaking.

In front of each individual garden is a small bench.  Lydia encourages people to have a seat at any of the gardens and just to enjoy the view and the scent of the gardens.  She even has a rock garden with two outdoor custom water fountains.  The entire garden, including the fountains, is all rocks, yet so beautiful! 

Just recently Lydia added one more custom rock water fountain.  This one is placed in the cracked pot garden.  Plants are literally coming out of cracked pots of various sizes and materials.  The fountain was made from Colbalt blue flower pots of different sizes.  The water cascades from one pot into another.  It really enhances the garden.

Lydia is going away for three weeks and has asked if I would be willing to maintain the gardens and fountains while she’s away.  I told her that I would be more than happy to do that!  I’m really looking forward to enjoying the time in the gardens.  It will be my pleasure to take care of them while Lydia’s gone.

Custom Water Fountains Versus Standard Fountains

When friends of mine had their house built, Char was disappointed with the front yard.  They had paid to have landscaping done, but she felt it was boring looking.  Knowing that I’m creative and love to think of ideas, Char asked me for my opinion.  Right away I thought two custom water fountains would be ideal!  The steps leading to her home are big and bold.  She needed something to soften the look and to be more inviting.

When I mentioned fountains, Char right away thought about the two tier fountains that have a pineapple shape at the top.  She said it was a possibility, but that she wasn’t over thrilled with the idea.  However, when I explained the difference to her between custom water fountains and just the standard fountains, Char got a lot more excited. 

I also happened to know someone who makes custom water fountains and offered to go to his shop with Char.  It’s an amazing place.  Kris has at least thirty fountains that can be purchased immediately or you can sit with Kris and design a fountain.  I love seeing all the different fountains and just knowing that no one else will have exactly the same thing!  Kris also has them well displayed.  They aren’t just lined up in rows.  After visiting Kris, Char was more determined than ever to have custom water fountains out front.  I can’t wait to see what she finally decides on.  I’m sure it will look just gorgeous and that she’ll be thrilled!!!

Custom Water Features Provide Unique Appeal

I love checking out water fountains, whether they are indoors or outdoors water fountains , wall mounted or free standing, or solar or plugged in.  I’m fascinated by fountains and believe that they provide a great calming effect on people.  Lately I’ve been especially paying attention to custom water features.  People have created fountains that I never would’ve thought about.

One that I especially like is of a mermaid.  I’ve seen a few mermaid fountains that I thought were rather tacky, but this one is beautiful.  It looks as though the mermaid is coming up for air, but the water flows from her mouth into the pool base.  Also sticking out of the pool is the mermaid’s tail.  The colors are just absolutely brilliant.

Another custom water fountain that I find intriguing is one that looks like bubbles.  Each round ball is actually made of clear glass.  The fountain water is tinted so when the water flows from one ball to another it colors that particular ball.  So as you watch it for a few minutes, different balls are colored at any given time.  I also noticed that it’s not always the same color.  Usually the owner switches the color daily.

I would love to be able to design my own custom water fountain someday!  I think it would be lots of fun and very satisfying.  Of course right now I don’t have any ideas as far as a theme, but maybe someday I’ll give it some serious thought.  Who knows, maybe someone could actually build it for me.
